Another traditional bi-annual topic on my blog, as some of you might have already noticed, is Fashion Week. As the event ended last week with it’s final stop, Paris, let’s see what has been going on in the fashion capitals of the world this season! I’ve chosen one favorite show per city. Aaaaand the winners are…. 🙂
NEW YORK – THOM BROWNE FALL 2017 READY-TO-WEAR
Thom Browne brought a very wide range of textures to the catwalk this season: feathers, tulle, lace, sequins, wool, tweed, leather, fur, and many more – quite often even within the same ensemble, creating extremely complex and rich looks. He took the huge trend of the puffer jacket to a whole new level by making puffer trousers, skirts, long sleeveless vests, blazers, and even trench coats out of this fabric. Which I think is genious. Oh, and did I mention that the whole runway was a frozen lake and the models were wearing ice skate blades on the soles of their shoes….? Simply amazing.
LONDON – BURBERRY FALL/WINTER 2017-2018 READY-TO-WEAR
My usual favorite from London is the Burberry show. When you think that trench coats can’t be reinvented in any more ways than they have already been, Burberry will prove you wrong. And this year, adhering to the hybrid fashion trend, they stitched a bunch of things together, including knits. Which I thought was a very fresh way of bringing such a traditional fabric back to the catwalks.
MILAN – DOLCE & GABBANA FALL/WINTER 2017-2018 READY-TO-WEAR
In Milan, Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana know exactly what brings their brand instant social media attention: get the most popular celebrities and international fashion bloggers to walk your runway. And this is exactly what they did this year. From Kristina Bazan of Kayture, to Aimee Song from Song of Style, Marie Shea from Peace Love Shea, Alexandra Pereira a.k.a Lovely Pepa, Brasilian digital influencer Helena Bordon, and many more were all walking up and down the catwalk, instantly posting fitting pictures, runway photos, and after-party posts on their Instagram and all their social media feeds. Who needs a better marketing strategy than that…? 😉
PARIS – CHANEL FALL/WINTER 2017-2018 READY-TO-WEAR
If Paris, then Chanel, what else…? 🙂 Sparkly tweeds, quilted metallic capes, glittery boots, classic black and white, icy pastels, glamorous headbands and chic accessories…oh…and…a spaceship! For the past couple of seasons Karl Lagerfeld has turned the Grand Palais into a supermarket, a casino, an airport and many more magical places as part of his runway shows, and this time the location turned into a space station, with a rocket ship that actually launched during the finale of the show. It’s definitely worth watching!
And of course I’ve gathered some of my favorite looks from each show….enjoy! 🙂
