My traditional bi-annual topic on the blog is of course Fashion Week, as you guys might already know. No matter how busy I am, or how many weeks I’ve been absent from the blog, there is always a Fashion Week recap of each season and there always will be! 😀 Sooooo, now that the Spring/Summer 2018 runways have come to an end last week with the event’s final glorious shows in Paris, let’s see what has been going on in the fashion capitals of the world this season! I’ve chosen one favorite show per city. Yes, yes, yes, we all know how breathtaking the Chanel, Dior, Gucci, Versace, Dolce & Gabbana, Michael Kors, Tom Ford, etc. collections were, but this year I am trying something new: I decided to focus on less well-known designers. I mean I’m sure we’ve all heard of them but we might not necessarily follow their work on a regular basis. Well maybe we should! Aaaaand the winners are…. ?
NEW YORK – Tibi Spring/Summer 2018 Ready-to-Wear
Ok, corsets and corseted tops or belts have been a trend for a couple of seasons now. That’s a fact. But just when we thought that we’ve seen it all, Tibi comes up with transparent PVC versions! BTW waterproof fabrics might become a thing next year, as we’ve seen them on several runways shows this season, including basically the entire Chanel collection presented last week at Paris Fashion Week.
LONDON – Ralph & Russo Spring/Summer 2018 Ready-to-Wear
It seems that Burberry is not the only London based brand to buy trench coats from! Ralph & Russo have come up with some seriously eye-catching pieces this season. It’s also worth to have a look at their dreamy embellished evening gowns that spared neither pleats nor ruffles. The label seems to be blossoming very quickly if we take into consideration the fact that it was established in 2010.
MILAN – Ermanno Scervino Spring/Summer 2018 Ready-to-Wear
Delicate florals, feminine lace, flowy tulle and organza bottoms paired up with strong, masculine, almost armour-like leather pieces, shirts, trench coats on top. Genious! Quite provocative, sensual, but very smart and tasteful masculine-feminine play. Oh, and let’s not forget to mention the lace-up leather booties that make us think of….ballerinas? Gladiators…? A bit of both? 🙂 The perfect way to complement the masculine-feminine combo looks.
PARIS – Nina Ricci Spring/Summer 2018 Ready-to-Wear
A modern army was brought to life by Nina Ricci basically incorporating almost every single trend of the season: feathers, ruffles, fringe, squared shoulders, epaulets, pockets, capes, shorts, logo belts, pastels. The location was perfect for the military-inspired silhouettes of the collection, a huge circus-like tent was built up in front of Les Invalides in sunny Paris. The building is now a museum, but it was built by Louis XIV as a military hospital.
