Fashion Revolution Week 2020

Fashion Revolution is a global movement that runs all year long. It was born on 24th April 2013, when the Rana Plaza building, that housed several garment factories in Bangladesh collapsed, killing 1138 people and injuring an additional 2500 workers. I’m sure you’ve heard of it, there’s even a documentary called The True Cost. If you haven’t watched it yet, make sure you do!

The movement is aiming to bring designers, academics, writers, business leaders, policymakers, brands, retailers, marketers, producers, makers, workers and fashion lovers together to create a more ethical and sustainable future for fashion.

Ever since 2013, 24th April is Fashion Revolution Day and Fashion Revolution Week runs from 20th to 26th April. This year there is a #whomademyclothes campaign to use your power in order to make things change. The brands and designers joining the initiative have the chance to post photos or videos of their favourite clothing pieces telling you the story behind them: what fabric its made of, where that textile is from, how did they end up choosing it, why they like it, etc. Let’s see how the fashion industry communicates with each other and their consumers. I am looking forward to seeing all the upcoming activity worldwide! Make sure you also keep an eye out if you’re interested…!
